Help with stress

Stress is one of the most common forms of emotional difficulty in our society.  One in three people report that they are currently struggling to cope with stress or have struggled with stress in the past.  Stress can be extremely damaging to your health and wellbeing, some of the ways that stress can affect people are:

  • Loss of interest in sex
  • Struggling with work and personal relationships
  • Difficulties with eating (over-eating and under-eating)
  • Drinking to excess or drug taking
  • Physical illnesses like increased blood pressure, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Turning to unhelpful negative behaviour to tolerate the symptoms

How we help people to reduce their stress levels

Truly Confidential Counselling and Therapy can help in many different ways.

We can provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and to look at what is causing the difficulties in your life and the symptoms that are being caused.

We can help you to look at the reasons behind the difficulties you are experiencing and whether your issues are the symptoms or the cause of your struggles.

We can help you to devise coping strategies and mechanisms and to find other sources of help whether these are external, or inner resources.

We can help you to change behaviour that is negative and find positive behaviours to help you to improve and recover.

If you are experiencing work related stress, we can help you to look at ways that your job could be altered so that you can raise these with your employer.  We can help you to return to work if you are away from work because of stress.

Most importantly of all, we can let you talk, when no-one else seems to have the time to listen.

What people say

Although all our work is 100% confidential.  However, some of our clients have generously supplied the following anonymous comments about our work with them ...

I was struggling to cope at work and eventually I was signed off with stress.  I tried to get help through my doctor but the waiting list in my area meant it would have been months before I was seen but with online sessions I was able to come up with some helpful strategies, talk to my boss and get back to work again with some adjustments put in place.

Mr D from Ipswich

It all got too much for me and I wanted to run away.  I had even thought of killing myself because I felt so bad.  You really helped me put some of my stresses aside and find a way to carry on.  I feel much better and I wish I had come for help sooner as it would have prevented a lot of my troubles.

Mrs P from Liverpool

I took on far too much because I couldn’t say no.  I was always offering support to others when they needed it, but in the end it took its toll.  Learning to say no was so liberating and it didn’t make me a bad person.  I used to get manipulated but I had to practice and practice to make that not happen.
